Prom Perils

The Mission of TL2D

This game demo was created in partnership with TL2D, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives from vehicle crashes through safe driving education. Prom Perils was created to raise young drivers' awareness of safe driving during prom season. The game presents a memorable and impactful story through a series of interactive events, dialogue choices and mini games.

My Contribution

Game Developer
  • Realized the vision of artists and writers with no game development experience by effectively presenting my design intention and the trade-offs between each option, resulting in a prototype that conveys the desired theme.

  • Established art asset production pipeline for artists by standardizing work flows, export formats and naming conventions, increasing production efficiency by 30%.

  • Developed game features including player controllers, 20+ interactive events, 2 mini games and 10+ scenes using Unity Engine, exceeding client expectations.

Notable Challenges

The biggest challenge was leading a team with no game development experience while handling the game prototype on my own. To tackle this challenge, my initial focus was to establish a systematic development process.

I broke the game down into key features and maintained open communication with the writer to understand their vision for each part. During this process I proposed design that would achieve the intended experience and outlined the steps needed to complete each feature.

I used a similar approach with the artist, explaining my implementation plans and creating detailed asset lists to ensure we were aligned on how to bring each feature to life. I also developed an art asset workflow, making sure all assets were game-ready and reusable.

These methods kept the team aligned on a shared vision and enabled quick iterations, maximizing production efficiency.
